Ford Bronco Legacy

After the widespread success of the Jeep CJ and International Scout platforms, Ford fired back with a compact 4WD SUV of its own in 1966–the Bronco. First announced in 1965, this impressive platform hit showrooms the following September, boasting three separate body styles–roadster, wagon, and half-cab–and a slew of features that rivaled its competitors, like solid axles, a compact body, and a torquey inline 6-cylinder powerplant.

After 12 years of producing a generally-unchanged platform, the Bronco received its first generational update, which saw the model stray from its compact SUV roots. The new 1978 Ford Bronco moved from a small, dedicated 4-wheeler to a rugged, full-size 4WD SUV that stole inspiration from the best-selling F-Series. Though wildly popular for years, the Bronco lost momentum in the mid-nineties. After five generations and thirty years of production, Ford discontinued the Bronco in 1996.

But after a 25-year hiatus, Ford executives gave the Bronco another lease at life in its sixth generation! Unlike later, full-size generations, the 2021+ Bronco harkens back to the model’s original design, sporting similar aesthetics and a compact form factor; however, the sixth generation Bronco doesn’t just look the part. Ford’s new compact SUV features a highly-capable, off-road tuned suspension, especially when optioned with off-road-centric packages like the Outer Banks, Badlands, Wildtrak, and Raptor!

Don’t trust our opinion? Maybe you’ll listen to the countless publications that’ve awarded the 2021+ Bronco such prestigious honors as:

  • The 2022 North American Utility of the Year Award

  • SEMA – 2021 4x4 of the Year Award

  • Autotrader.ca – 2022 Best Vehicle for Adventure

Other impressive features include:

  • Ford’s Trail Turn Assist system

  • Push-button Trail Control system

  • Trail 1-Pedal Drive (auto braking)

  • Sync 4 infotainment system
